Readers' Favorite Restaurants
In a world of incessant multitasking, where efficiency and speed are hailed as virtues and fast food and next-day delivery are expected, it's nice to know that some things don't change - that longevity is still a virtue and commitment to quality counts.

The ability to transport its customers to another time, and to do so seamlessly and consistently, endears Washingtonian readers to L'Auberge Chez Francios. For the 20th time, readers have named the Hearinger family's Alsation-style restaurant in Great Falls their favorite restaurants. Kinkead's which edged out L'Auberge Chez Francios in 2000 and 2001, was again named a favorite, as was 1789 in Georgetown, a fitting accolade for chef Ris Lacoste who has announced her departure at the end of the year to start a place of her own.

Best Restaurant
1789, Georgetown. A distinguished American restaurant in a Federal-style townhouse.

Best for Special Occasions
1789, Georgetown. Reserve well in advance.

Most Romantic
1789, Georgetown. Especially popular during the holidays, when the main dining room is beautifully decorated.
